|On Thursday, January 13, 2011, Jean-Yves Riaux, Expert, consultant in wood construction, and Master carpenter, will meet with the Masters students studying “Construction and sustainable housing”, at the National School of Public Works in Paris. Mr. Riaux, a pioneer in wood construction in France, will take on construction techniques from the angle of “grey biodiversity”.|
This conference was organized with the help of ATIBT, a partner of the Fondation Chirac for the awareness campaign for architects on the use of legal and certified timber. This conference compliments the conferences for the architecture students led by Emmanuelle Grundmann in the 20 National Superior Schools of Architecture (ENSA). Theses conferences fit into the awareness campaign for architects on the use of legal and certified timber.
President Jacques Chirac, Minister of Culture, Frédéric Mitterrand, and Architect Jean Nouvel launched this awareness campaign in September 2010 at the Cité de l’architecture et du patrimoine. The goal is make those who prescribe wood as a building material aware of the issues surrounding sustainable logging, and their responsibility in the choice of materials.
