The National Laboratory for the Quality Control of Medicines has begun a new step: the project partners have signed the convention and the first stone laid on February 23, 2009.
Valérie Terranova, founding member and Secretary of the Administrative Council of the Fondation Chirac, and Philippe Bernagou, Director General of the Pierre Fabre Foundation, signed the convention to extend the National Laboratory for the Quality Control of Medicines in Cotonou on February 23, 2009 (see the photos album below). The Beninese Minister of Health and other representatives of the Ministry also signed the convention. All together they laid the first stone of the future second floor of the Laboratory.
Throughout the day, the student of the Cultural and Artistic Union of Cotonou presented a play on the dangers of fake medicines and medicines bought in the street in front of a large crowd.
The next day, Valérie Terranova and Philippe Bernagou were able to visit the Central Distribution Center for Essential Medicines (Photo: Philippe Bernagou, left, and the Director of the Center, Pascal Hessou, right). The Center works in close collaboration with National Laboratory of Quality Control of Medicines. This trip was also an opportunity to see the Laboratory in Action (see the photo album below) and to meet witth the Director of the Laboratory Dr. Farid Baba-Moussa.
