Jane Goodall is my role model and my inspiration. She has always been so.
She has unfailingly fought for decades to protect monkeys – especially chimpanzees.
She combines scientific excellence – she forever changed science when she showed that chimpanzees use tools – and emotional intelligence, the only intelligence that allows us to truly understand others and through which she has unveiled the cultural and social wealth which we had believed these monkeys were lacking.
Her exemplary struggle goes beyond protecting our cousins, it concerns us all. She encourages us to become more generous, to become aware of our responsibilities, to change our habits: in sum, to be more human. For this, the United Nation has named her “Messenger of Peace”.
I attended her lectures every chance I get. The frequency has not changed a thing; I am still moved and overwhelmed each and every time. And every time, I am even more motivated than before to continue fighting my own battles.
Jane will be in Paris on February 12, 2013 where she will present the film Chimpanzee during an exceptional evening at the Grand Rex. I will be in India for a film shoot and will not be able to be with her. As you have already understood, this is to my deepest regret.
If you can, do not miss the all too rare opportunity to meet this amazing woman.
And help her in her fight to protect chimpanzees.
To the Grand Rex, Tuesday, February 12, 8 p.m. Entry fee: 5 euros.
