Fifth Meeting of the Board of Directors


The Fifth Meeting of the Fondation Chirac’s Board of Directors was held on Tuesday 23rd June, rue d’Anjou, in Paris. Franck Debié was appointed Managing Director of the Fondation Chirac, and Philippe Brongniart, Arnaud Danjean, Professor Marc Gentilini, Rozenn Milin and Bastien Sachet were made voluntary General Delegates for the five programs of the Fondation Chirac. They will be in charge of supervising and enriching the projects of the Fondation Chirac in its five fields of intervention.

Director General:

Franck Debié, a geographer, graduated from the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Paris and HEC, where he now teaches. He was academic Dean of the UMP, Managing Director of the Fondation pour l’Innovation Politique, and political Director of the European Ideas Network in Brussels, a group of think tanks and experts working for the EPP (European People’s Party) group of the European parliament.

The General Delegates:

For the prevention of conflicts: Arnaud Danjean, expert in the Balkans, European deputy:
Elected European deputy in June 2009, former consultant for the Balkans of the Minister of Foreign Affairs (2005-2007), Arnaud Danjean has also worked for the Ministry of Defense. After working in Sarajevo from 1995 to 1998 and on the Kosovo issue between 1998 and 2002, he collaborated, in Pristina, with the High Representative for the CFSP (Common Foreign and Security Policy of the European Union) in 2004-2005. He is now adviser and teacher at Sciences Po Paris.

For access to water and sanitation: Philippe Brongniart, former Executive Director of the Suez Group:
Former student at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques and the Ecole Nationale d’Administration, Philippe Brongniart collaborated with the Prime Minister (1976-1978) on Equipment, Environment and Territorial Planning Matters, before being appointed Director of the merchant fleet at the Ministry of Transport (1978-1983). From 1983 onwards, he worked for the Lyonnaise des Eaux group and the Groupe Suez, where he was made Managing Director.

For access to health and quality medication: Professor Marc Gentilini, former President of the Academy of Medecine:
Honorary President of the Academy of Medicine, Marc Gentilini is a French medicine professor, specialized in infectious and tropical diseases and member of the Economic and Social Council. He was, from 1997 to 2003, President of the French Red Cross. Fascinated by Africa, a missionary for health, he has engaged in the fight against AIDS. It is indeed his team that provided the infected ganglion, which allowed the Pasteur Institute to identify the AIDS virus, the VIH-1.

Actions against deforestation and desertification: Bastien Sachet, agronomist, assistant manager of The Forest Trust:
Bastien Sachet is Director of Business Development at The Forest Trust. Fascinated by natural science, he graduated from the Institut Nationl Agronomique of Paris-Grignon and has a degree in marketing from the Université de Parix IX Dauphine. He has spent several years in Brazil, Australia, England and Argentina where he gained international experience in the private sector, at the head of commercial teams, notably in the logistics and agronomy sectors. He joined the Forest Trust in 2006.

For the preservation of cultural diversity: Rozenn Milin, former director of TV Breizh, Director of the Sorosoro program:
Born in Brittany, she became an activist for the defense of Breton very early on. She trained as a historian and specialized in the Celts of the Antiquity. A Journalist, radio and television presenter, producer, filmmaker, actress, she worked for FR3, the BBC, HTV, S4C and Arte. From 1998 to 2003, she set up and managed TV Breizh (TF1 group) and from 2004 to 2006, worked at the French Embassy in Beijing, where she was in charge of matters relating to the cinema, television, radio and new technologies.
