Rajendra Pachauri pleads for another kind of development

As the Nobel Price for Peace and head of the intergovernmental panel of experts on climate (IPCC) Rajendra Pachauri came to Europe to assist to the Poznan Conference (Poland) on climate, he dropped by in Paris to meet Jacques Chirac, on December, 12th. Also member of the Honor Committee of the Fondation Chirac, he spoke with the former French President about the recent terrorist attacks that hurt India in Mumbai. Together they also talked over the issues of the global warming. The day before the end of the Poznan Conference, December 11, Rajendra Pachauri said how urgent it is that developed societies change their way of living to a sustainable development. “Current damages to environment will have irreparable consequences to our lives”, said Rajendra Pachauri. An to add: “Very soon, the impacts of climate change will exceed our capacities to adapt to them”. |
